(Salt Lake Tribune)

A storm with high winds moved through Salt Lake
and Utah Counties Tuesday Morning, downing power
lines, uprooting trees, overturning small aircraft
and leaving at least 26,000 people without power.

Utah power spokesman David Eskelsen said
the majority of the damage occured in the east
Bench area. Power outages were first reported
about 10 AM in Salt Lake City.

More than an inch of water is estimated in some
parts of Salt Lake county in less than an hour.
Many drains were clogged and water flooded into
the streets and parts of Interstate 15.

The storm brought high-speed winds and hail in
some areas. "I watched the roof come off my office,"
said Steve Gleason, Provo City Airport manager.
The winds also overturne several small airplanes
grounded at the airport.

In Provo, broken power lines were strewn across
houses near 70 South and 2050 West.
