I voted no (re: ads for pharm. co.'s) for several reasons: My 8 year old son runs around singing," Viva Viagra!" It's hard to explain to him why he shouldn't sing that. Not to mention that the silly ditty gets stuck in my head too. Sorry, Elvis. Secondly, it must be annoying doctors to have patients demanding a drug that may or may not be beneficial simply because they saw an ad on TV. Given the high cost of prescription drugs couldn"t/shouldn't the money spent on ads be put to better use?

What? Last I heard it's not against the law for a pharm. co. to advertise. It's called free enterprise. Who can say they haven't sat through an embarrassing tampon ad with the first-time-come-to-my-house boyfriend! Who hasn't had a song stuck in their head from a commercial? It's called a jingle.( Of coarse, I will concede there has never been a tampon jingle that has stuck in my head.) OK.I know the argument may be about the corruption that has occurred between docs and pharm, co.. It's called pay for play. Those free sample? Maybe it could be called promotion. But has a doc ever not presribed you the best medicine? It's that huge gray area, that has a factor. Something we should pay attention to. Cuz within the gray, there is the shade of Death. Write or call your congressman about any feelings you have about this subject. Or ANY subject for that matter. You have a VOICE.

Well, it may be legal, but I hate having my children exposed to adult topic ads. It isn't easy to let children grow up at a normal rate, with all the sexual things on TV.
Jaquie, I think you're right and I think I'll write my congressman asking him to see if they can't, at least, limit the time those ads can be shown to later times.

One thing for sure. The cost of those ads is built in the prices.
